This is what is going on in this picture.
Yahoo shareholders: *seductive* "Lets pretend we are interested in being bought."
Ebay: *indignant* "The next one to screw with me and my Paypal gets the bullet!"
Google: *Hungry gurgling* "Which one first?"
Bill Gates: *frantic* "I'll pay anything to make Microsoft competitive! $40 Billion? you got it!"
Skype: "Getting money out of my users is like drinking out of a salt lick."
Ok. Not really. But there are some interesting potential corporate combinations coming up.
A buyout of Yahoo by Microsoft would be a massive blow to Google and help consolidate Microsoft's tentative position in the search industry. Not to mention giving Microsoft access to the Yahoo faithful.

But if Google got it's paws on Ebay that would give it impressive control of a very loyal user base and a fantastic payment system.
Then if someone could figure a way to turn Skype into a cash cow to fund these ventures...
Microsoft doesn't exactly have a great track record of making huge waves with aquired companies. In fact, I have wondered just what kind of acquisition it would take to put Microsoft ahead at something other then operating systems.

We are waiting!!!! :) I talked to Exigest, and he is still working on this post. I cant wait to hear it!
Kind of excited over a post about Google, aren't you?
Haha, I guess so. Despite some bad decisions that Google has made in the last few years, I am still a fan.
I love reading about anything to do with large internet companies.
Uh...what mistakes has Google made? So far, they seem like they have a pretty pristine slate.
I have a problem with their last deal with China. They sold out, allowing the Chinese government to censor their people. So now when some poor Chinese person Google's "American Freedom", they will probably be put in to prison and beaten.
I think its dumb when a company that starts out with really high ethics, sells their soul. And the thing is, they did not have to bow to the Chinese government on this. China probably wanted Google more than Google needed china.
All that to say, Google could have made a stand. But nobody makes stands anymore. Nobody does what is right when there is money involved.
Actually, no. All Google did to comply with the Chinese government was to provide an extra Google site for China that was censored. You wouldn't get freaking ARRESTED for searching for a controversial topic, you'd just get altered results. That's all. Plus, it's not like you can't go to the regular Google.com anyway. It isn't blocked in China, and reports say it works 90% of the time, and that virtually all Chinese people using Google use the uncensored version.
